No prior experience is required to enroll in this course. We welcome students from all backgrounds. The course will guide you through all the necessary information and skills from the ground up.

The “powers to arrest” section covers legal authority, limitations, and procedures for security guards. You’ll learn about citizen’s arrest laws, proper arrest techniques, and the documentation required. We also discuss the importance of using appropriate force and understanding your rights and responsibilities when making an arrest.

This course primarily focuses on non-weapon aspects of security work. While we cover weapons laws and regulations, hands-on weapons training is not included in the basic course. Please talk to us about further training that we can make available to you.

After completing this course, you can pursue various advanced certifications. These may include Armed Security Guard, Executive Protection Specialist, or Loss Prevention Specialist. Please reach out to us about additional instruction you are interested in.

While there are no strict physical requirements set by the state, being in good general health is beneficial for security work. Some employers may have their own physical standards, such as the ability to stand for long periods or lift a certain amount of weight.
